Member Spotlight: Kaye Culp
Kaye Culp is a valuable WORX member and a mental health counselor at Behavioral ONE at our Columbiana WORX location. She is a recent graduate from the University of Montevallo having returned to obtain a master’s degree once her girls were older. During her graduate studies, she was awarded a fellowship from the Albert Schweitzer Foundation to provide online counseling services for caregivers of children with disabling conditions during COVID.
Kaye and her husband, David, live in Bibb County with two of their daughters, Misha and Mary-Charles, and their third daughter, Madison, lives in Montgomery. Their oldest daughter, Misha, was diagnosed with autism at an early age and is non-verbal. “As parents, learning to navigate her world has been a challenging and rewarding experience. For those traveling the path of special Needs parenting, or caregiving in any capacity, life tends to be a series of ups and downs with a strong dose of isolation”. For Kaye, being Misha's mother is her greatest joy. She is thankful for those who embrace her as the wonderful person that their family knows her to be. She is excited to be working for an organization which focuses on promoting independence for children like her daughter and the joy of Special Needs Parenting.
As a therapist at Behavioral ONE, her caseload consists primarily of parents and caregivers along with individuals on the autism spectrum. A special interest of hers is working with adults who are on the spectrum (with or without a diagnosis). Along with individual sessions, she hosts monthly support groups (In-Person and Online) for caregivers at no charge. If you know anyone interested in her support group or individual counseling, please reach out. Her email is kculp@behavioralone.com
